Hosting my 12th charity gala dinner fundraising event, on 22 March 2025 was a gratifying experience for me personally. In total we raised £3,825.16 for Dementia UK and specifically Admiral Nurses in Hertfordshire. This could not have been achieved without your support and generosity.
I started my journey in 2004 when my husband was diagnosed with dementia. My passion for getting more help for carers led to my association with Dementia UK who have so many enthusiastic and motivated people. Dementia can happen to anyone; dementia does not respect boundaries. Dementia affects the whole family and those diagnosed need to be given the same priority as people with other serious illnesses. Dementia UK campaigns for and champions the rights of people living with Dementia – but more importantly the people who care for them.
With the number of specialist dementia nurses, called Admiral Nurses, at a record high the charity continues to grow successfully. Dementia UK now has 466 Admiral Nurses changing lives across the UK, on the Helpline, in virtual clinic appointments and in the community including GP surgeries, hospitals, cares and hospices and I am thrilled to report that through all of the money raised by me and my supporters we have the largest cohort of Admiral Nurses in Hertfordshire, sadly there are still counties that do not have them.
Since I started my campaign in 2010, I have raised £109,140.50 all thanks to people like you. The total profit from my annual gala dinner this year now takes this figure to just under £113,000.00.
On behalf of Dementia UK, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the years. Your contribution, and the contributions of others like you, go a long way to supporting our mission of providing Admiral Nurse assistance to all those affected by this debilitating illness.
Thank you
